The National Taxi Alliance (NTA) is holding a series of provincial policy implementation workshops to consolidate resolutions from its recent policy conference and equip office bearers to turn them into practical actions.
According to NTA spokesperson Theo Malele, the Gauteng structures’ policy workshop, taking place at Bela-Bela resort from 24 to 25 June, follows the organisation’s policy and business conference held in March at the Marine Garden Court Hotel in Durban.
“The workshops are designed to empower executive members across our structures to implement adopted resolutions on issues such as modernising the taxi industry, participating in the digital economy, introducing a cashless fare system, and establishing a disciplinary committee and code of conduct,” he said.
Malele said the Gauteng workshop will serve as a guide for other NTA structures as they implement the policy decisions and resolutions adopted at the recent conference in Durban.
Representatives will also discuss how to implement broader policy reforms and resolutions in areas such as business innovation, operations, safety, and enterprise development.
Malele said the workshops are not meant to reopen issues already debated and adopted at the conference, but to focus on implementing them consistently across NTA structures.
He added that the policy declarations have been shared with NTA structures to support implementation, beginning with Gauteng.
Malele said the workshop will later be rolled out nationally, with Gauteng’s format serving as the model.
