Springs Taxi Association (STA) recently conducted a by-laws
workshop held at Ethekwini, Durban to empower members of the association to formalize their operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
The three-day event aimed to review and amend existing bylaws governing route operations, member conduct, and operator laws within the association.
Elaborating further of the training workshop, Mr S Ngwenya, the Springs Taxi Association Chairperson, says the purpose of the training is to empower taxi operators with knowledge on transport regulations spearheaded towards ensuring compliance and efficiency within the taxi industry.
“The participants benefitted from workshop training sessions facilitated by transport industry experts. Participants were equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and operate effectively within the evolving landscape of the transportation sector,” Ngwenya said.
He added that the workshop achieved its objectives to raise awareness on the importance of by-laws by which the operations of taxi association Springs Taxi Association Sharpens Members Knowledge with By-laws Training are governed, taking into consideration the needs and safety of customers and those the association serves.
“The workshop went according to plan as it achieved its objectives more than expected. It signals a new era of collaboration, compliance, and progress within the Springs Taxi Association and the broader taxi industry,” Ngwenya said, adding: “We gained a lot of knowledge from the revised route protocols to enhancing member professionalism. Every aspect was meticulously examined to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
He said his members are ready to implement everything they’ve learned during the workshops. “We are now armed with fresh insights and a renewed commitment to excellence, a shared sense of purpose and determination to drive positive change in the communities,” he said.
Santaco Ekurhuleni Region office bearers who participated in the workshop included Regional Chairperson Mr. Mtshali, Secretary Mr Mnisi, Deputy Secretary Ms Mnguni, and Training Officer Mr Chabalala.
