Taxi operators urge Patrice Motsepe to address training academy issue

The SANTACO Training Academy is being evicted from its premises by Harmony Gold mine management, despite previous leadership claiming the land and buildings were donated for full ownership.

Things as they stand it appears that it is not the case that the training academy premises were donated according to Lejweleputswa Regional Taxi Council leadership.

There is confusion as to whether the premises were indeed donated or rented.

Ordinary taxi operators require clear information, as many still
believe the facility is theirs.

The site, which was meant to be a centre of excellence for training and developing both current and future taxi operators and administrators, is now closed. This is not what was originally envisioned.

The training centre was intended to be a legacy project for the taxi industry. We recognise the disappointment felt by former President Philip Taaibosch regarding this unfortunate development.

We wish all parties involved reach a friendly resolution for the sake of taxi industry empowerment.
