Cape Chamber of Commerce strengthens working relationship with taxi industry

The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strongly condemned the criminal activities contributing to violence within the taxi sector.

Derryn Brigg, Deputy President of the Chamber, emphasized that violence is unacceptable in society and expressed hope that their
ongoing partnership with the taxi industry would help combat such criminal behavior.

“To our knowledge, the overwhelming majority of stakeholders are ready to move beyond violence and envision a future where safety prevails and individuals can work without fear,” Brigg said.

He further highlighted the significant efforts invested in establishing the Western Cape Taxi Cluster—a new umbrella
organization formed in collaboration between the Cape Chamber and Western Cape SANTACO—to drive industry reform.
