Gauteng National Taxi Alliance trains administrators in IT skills

The Gauteng National Taxi Alliance (GNTA) has implemented information technology training programmes designed to empower administrators from its affiliated taxi associations.

A recent workshop held at Halfway Toyota in Fourways, Johannesburg, was widely regarded as a significant step forward, equipping taxi office administrators with essential skills in data management.

According to Buyile Moya, the NTA’s database project manager, the primary objective of the workshop was to instruct GNTA affiliated associations on how to accurately capture member data within the organisation’s central database system.

Participation in the workshop was limited to individuals selected by their respective associations, specifically Secretaries and Administrators of the GNTA. Moya highlighted that attendees benefitted greatly from the expertise of information technology professionals and senior leaders in the taxi sector, who shared their knowledge and practical experience.

“The workshop was successful, as participants returned to their associations equipped with a deeper understanding of the importance of data management and the regulations governing the collection, capturing, and administration of member data,” said Moya.

The event featured key presentations by NTA Secretary General Alpheus Mlalazi, UTAF representative Thami Buthelezi, and Baballo Moilwa, NTA’s software developer and the architect behind the NTA database system. As is often noted, data has become a vital asset in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Effective data management in the taxi industry is a crucial component of transformation, as it supports informed decision making and strategic planning across the sector.
