Better times ahead for the taxi industry despite challenges

We welcome back all our stakeholders to the year 2024 as TaxiWorld publication with this special edition celebrating taxi operators who recently completed the Ses’fikile Training Programme that empowers them to be leaders of businesses that can sustain themselves even in the face of dire situations.

The programmes is offered jointly by Toyota South Africa in partnership with the University of Pretoria.

We also congratulate all those who completed their matric examinations and those who received qualifications ranging from diplomas and other related certificates in various fields countrywide.

We honour them and hope there would be those who would emulate them in future. But a special mention goes to Thomas Masase, a taxi operator, and now an Advocate of the High Court after obtaining his LLB from the University of South Africa (Unisa). He is a member of the South African Local and Local and Long- Distance Bus Operators (Sallbo). This bodes well for the taxi industry and for its future with well educated leaders like him
at the helm.

On a sad note, following the passing of Jotham Msibi, this publication staff and management send heartfelt condolences to the late family, friends, and business associates.

Read more about the role that the late Msibi played in reshaping the mini-bus taxi economy in the next tribute edition of TaxiWorld for Feb-March.
