Toyota vehicle donation boost for Ndlela’nhle road safety campaign

Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) continues to strengthen its relationship with the taxi industry. The company once again donated ten Toyota Starlet models to the National Taxi Alliance (NTA) during the festive season for the duration of the Ndlela’nhle safety campaign.

Parks Molaradi, TSAM Senior Manager: Tender and Taxi, handed over the vehicles to the leadership of the NTA led by its Secretary General, Alpheus Mlalazi, at Toyota’s head office in Sandton recently.

Moraladi says TSAM is proud to be associated with the taxi industry and wants to make a difference in the taxi industry.

“We are honoured for the opportunity to partner with the industry in making roads safer and contribute to reducing accidents on national roads especially during the busy festive period and Easter holiday.

He said the reduction of accidents in the country’s roads was of paramount importance, stretching to the Easter holidays.

“We continue to enjoy the support of the taxi operators, making Toyota a leading brand in terms of sales in the mini-bus segment. It is this support that makes us proud and privileged to be associated with the industry,” he said.

Mlalazi was equally happy with Toyota’s gesture, adding that the handing out of the vehicles was on its own a good gesture and clear commitment to the growth of the minibus taxi industry. “We acknowledge Toyota’s commitment to support the taxi industry’s growth through different initiatives, including the training of taxi operators through the Ses’fikile Training Programme and support safety of the Ndlela’hle Road Safety Campaign,” said Mlalazi.

He said the donated vehicles would help improve taxi surveillance activities as the organization’s safety teams monitored the behaviour of taxi drivers on the roads – including making sure that customers were treated well.

“The donated vehicles would help improve taxi surveillance activities as our safety teams monitor the behaviour of taxi drivers on the road including making sure that customers are treated well. Of course, these vehicles will go a long way and provide support as we collaborate with the law-enforcement agencies ensuring road safety compliance in making our roads safer for both motorists and pedestrians,” he said.
